Here are some cakes I've made since the last post. I seem to be a really slow blogger. Sorry :-( . Life is so fast paced and with a 5yr old and 2 teenagers my time on the family computer is very limited. lol.
A nurse graduation cake with 75 matching cake pops. This cake was so fun to make and the expression on the client was priceless. I love to see how people enjoy the look and taste of their cakes.
Here is a bowling cake for a 40th Bowling birthday celebration. The birthday boy's nicknamed is spider.
Here is a sports themed red/black/white cake for a fun 13th birthday celebration. This cake was special because the top layer is completely gluten free chocolate, the middle was chocolate with an oreo filling and the bottom was vanilla with chocolate chip filling. So much fun! This cake was may tiered entry into the San Tan Festival of Cakes. I did a beach theme complete with surf boards, Adirondack chair, shells, sand and surf. I used foam dummies as this cake was to be displayed in the mall for 4 days. The tiers were off set which gave me a little more room to make each beach scene. Here is the purse cake that I also entered in the San Tan Festival of Cakes contest. I entered it into the 3D category and won first place! Yeah, this was the first time I'd ever entered a cake contest. I learned a ton of dos and don'ts. There were also some reallt cool cake classes on everything from figures and flowers to cake pops and shoes. So much fun. I won 3rd place overall in the beginners category.

Newest Cakes.... It's been super busy around here with the kids all getting out of school and all. Also there is a sugar art show at our local mall and I have entered in 2 cake categories. I'm a little stressed as I'm trying to get those cakes done with all the kiddos home! Crazy days....

A tower of cake pops donated for a Breast Cancer 3 Day walk Fundraiser! There were 200+ cake pops on it and it looked amazing. Oh yeah, and tasted amazing too!! lol
Here is a close up of the pretty high heeled girlie shoe I made for the topper of my cake pop tower. It shimmered people and I has little silver bling on it. Super fun.
Another view of the beautiful breast cancer fundraising high heeled shoe!

A quick but still very beautiful red, black, and white cake for a special birthday girl. I had seen these really simple fabric like roses on another cake and thought I had to try and replicate them. I love how whimsical they look. Almost cartoon like.

Here is a very simple but classy first communion/confirmation cake.

A quick 40th wedding anniversary cake. Elegant and sophisticated!!

My most fun cake to date, a topsey turvey red, black and white Alice in Wonderland cake. The bottom tier was chocolate cake and the top tier was gluten free chocolate cake with a lactose free butter cream. I know right?? How can this be? well I baked the bottom and decorated it one day, then completely cleaned down the kitchen and all my decorating tools and then baked and decorated the gluten free tier. It was very time consuming but worth all the accolades from the family!! The birthday girl was the gluten/lactose free person and she was just so happy to be able to have a piece of her very own birthday cake with her friends. It was a pleasure really!

So there they are, just a few of the newest cakes from this weekend and the past month. It's been "a lot" crazy here so posting the pictures is all I have the time for today.

Neon Zebra! WOW!
Another busy weekend filled with fun and cakes. Here are my last two. I made a neon cake for a friend's daughter's 13th birthday. Inside this fun looking cake was a vanilla sponge that I colored all sorts of neon colors, so when they cut into it, it was neon inside too!!! Yummy!

Then I made a a beautifully simple white on white 40th wedding anniversary cake! Phew. More on the way. And fun too!!!

Cupcake Toppers!

Yum. I was asked by a friend if I would be interested in making some Anaheim Angel cupcake toppers for her son's birthday. I thought, now that could be a challenge, and promptly said "Sure". Argh, now what? Well thank goodness I had recently purchased a program called SCAL for my cutter so now I'm able to cut anything I can make into a computer SVG file. Yeah. So here are what the cupcake toppers ended up looking like. And yes I think they'll look great on top of a cupcake!

Nail polish spa party cake. This cake was super fun to make. I embossed the fondant to look like real cotton pads. Also the spilled nail polish was dusted with edible gold luster dust. It was a hit at the party and super yummy too. :-)
Purse cake.A good friend of mine is a consultant and sales person for the ever popular Miche purse line. It was her 40th Birthday and her husband called me in a panic. "I forgot to order a cake, help! What can I do?" Well. Leave it to me to fashion a purse on the spot. This was a really fun cake to make and I used one of my Limited edition Miche purse shells as inspiration. She loved it and yes, it was super yummy too.
Goooooaaaaalllllll!!!!! Another fun cake.
I was asked to make a birthday cake for a young lady turning 10. All the information I was given was she loved the color yellow, she loved the sport of soccer, her jersey number was #4 and her team uniform was all black! So this is what I came up with. It was a hit! The ball looked really cool too. I used MMfondant hexagons and pentagons on the soccer ball, Yellow and Black MM fondant on the sides and green buttercream piped like grass on the top.
My new venture: COOKIES!!

After watching the Cricut Cake Class on line, with Jinger, I was inspired and excited to play with cookie dough. I made my own sugar cookie recipe and chilled my dough in the fridge before I rolled it out on the Cricut Cake mat. Then after rolling it out I put it in the freezer for about 5-6 mins (just to stiffen up). The cookie dough cut very nicely after freezing. The image I used was the notebook from the My Community cartridge. I layered 2 cuts together with the cookie stick in between. It worked perfectly! I made these cookies for the April birthdays at our elementary school. Since these worked so nicely I'm going to change the image every month to make it fun and interesting. Try it!!!

Here comes the Bride...... Phew, this weekend was nerve wrecking. I was asked by a friend to make her wedding cake. To me thats a tall order! I have been making cakes for not very long but I love to create, so to be asked was an honor, (but man, I have to admit, I was kinda scared. It's the centerpiece of the wedding (other than the bride of course!). So I researched all the wedding stuff I could and as they say "just do it!" So here is the result. I think it turned out pretty good and I was very happy that it didn't fall over or bubble! Mission complete.... lol (NEXT!) lol

Here are this weekend cakes. I made a cute 19th birthday cake for a young lady in college and matching 1st birthday cakes for a little Prince and Princess. The pink birthday cake had a beautiful strand of pearls on top that were dusted with pearl dust. I also strung them on floss so they actually looked like a pearl necklace. This cake flavor was vanilla with chocolate hazelnut filling. Then the 1st birthday cakes, these were really big. They were 50 servings a piece! And they also had matching smash cakes for the babies. The cakes looked super cute on the table. I hope everyone enjoyed them. The two cake flavors were chocolate with oreo cookies and cream filling and white vanilla with chocolate chip filling. Yummy!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Here's the card I made for my 4 year old son to hand out to his friends today at preschool. My son picked the alien so I had to come up with a way to use it in a Valentine's card. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Oh my, that WAS a long time that I've been away and haven't posted anything on my blog. So sorry. Life here just "took off" over the holidays and, even though I was able to do a few crafting things, I have had no time to sit and post. I miss posting and hearing from everyone. So one of my New Year's resolutions for 2011 will be to be better about posting consistently. There, now it's in print. lol.

Ok, so here it goes. I have been experimenting with fabric and my Cricut, and here is what I got. I love these custom onesies. For the girl one I used my tried and true Doodle Charms cartridge. I just cut off the candle on the cupcake and layered the dots and stripes. Then for the boy onesie I used the sandcastle on the Life's A Beach cartridge.
The cuts were ironed on using Heat and Bond Each onesie was coupled with a matching burp cloth. Fun, "sew" sweet and "sew" simple. Then it's always nice to have a sweet matching card.

Try one. :-)
